Story
In April Mum and I will be joining our second Gutsy Challenge - we made it to Australia's highest point (Mt Kosciuszko) in 2021. This time we're aiming for 73KM on Kangaroo Island, with funds raised contributing to Gastro-Intestinal (GI) cancer research.
Working in oncology I see the need for improved treatment options for people with GI cancers. Research and clinical trials are the way we can all work together to try and achieve this.
Over 36,000 Australians are diagnosed with a GI cancer each year. These include bowel, stomach, oesophageal, gallbladder, liver, pancreas and anal cancers. I'll be walking for everyone I know with a GI cancer diagnosis and because I believe AGITG and the GI cancer institute are using funds for research to improve outcomes for GI cancer patients.
Thank you for any support you can contribute. A donation to fund GI cancer research can give patients and their families hope.
GI Cancer Institute (Australasian Gastro-Intestinal Trials Group)
Gastro-Intestinal (GI) cancer is the most common form of cancer claiming a devastating 51 lives each day. At the GI Cancer Institute, our vision is to create a world free from GI cancers. It is thanks to the support of the community that we are able to fund vital clinical trials research to improve quality of life and treatment options for GI cancer patients. GI cancers affect the digestive system and includes cancers of the stomach, oesophagus, gallbladder, liver, pancreas, stomach and bowel and anus. Thank you for your support.
